How the Sense of Taste Works

lacated on your tongue are fungiform papillea or small bumps that have taste buds on them. THe are more taste receptors in the throat and palate also. There are five different tastes that we can detect. They are defined as Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Salty, and Umami. Our sense of smell contributes to taste also because what we smell contributes to how we taste it. Our brain, eyes and nose, also help make sure we are not eating anything that would harm us or posion the body.
