Ecstasy is considered both a stimulant and a hallucinogen. Ecstasy is the street name for MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine). Other street names include: XTC, X, Adam, hug, beans, and love drug. Ecstasy is ingested as a capsule or tablet. The effects begin about 30 minutes after ingestion and last from 3 to 4 hours. Ecstasy realeases dopamine and serotonin in the brain which gives the user hallucinations, feelings of euphoria, and a "love" for everyone around them.

Pleasurable Effects:
- disinhibition
- emotional elevation
- enhanced sensory perception
- energy

Adverse Effects:
- overheating
- dehydration
- depression
- nausea
- chills
- sweating
- sleep problems
